Cheng Karpatihk, (1571, 1620) was a banker in Osaka.
Cheng believed in Catholic.
He was at the time the top fortune in the world and lived an opulent life, richer than a whole country. He belonged to an influential family that could help in any occasion. Moreover, he was seen as belonging to the low nobility and as such, was somewhat courtised by many people. He was of a sophisticated culture, masters a couple of languages, and always curious to understand other cultures. He was weak, and fell ill all the time. He was iron-willed, achieving any goal he set.
Cheng, 16 years old, banker, became the new leader of the family.
In the year 1602, Cheng spent time and wealth to improve his living space. Now it was much more comfortable, and beautiful. Nine months after, Cheng had to quit Hanoi after a flood. The departure was sponsored by a local figure that gave him a recommandation, so he would be welcomed wherever he went. The family settled in Osaka.
At the age of 37, Cheng spent time socializing with people in Osaka. He made some strong friendships (and a couple of enemies). Soon after, Cheng fell in love. Half a year later, Cheng gave money to the poor.
12 years later, Cheng decided to improve his knowledge. He found a mentor that teached him many new useful and wonderful things. Half a year later, Cheng had a affair with a neighbour.
