He belonged to the low caste of the society, and had some friends among the servants, beggars and workers. People saw Canaan as cultivated, eager to read and learn when possible, and mastering writing, which he did for friends. He was physically powerful, with a perfect body in a perfect health.He was soft-spirited, rejecting any responsability.
