He lived a life of poverty. He was able to eat and sleep under a shelter, but ended with having no possession at all. He belonged to the low caste of the society, and had some friends among the servants, beggars and workers. People saw Canaan as cultivated, eager to read and learn when possible, and mastering writing, which he did for friends. He was force of nature, and people saw in their body and beauty the incarnation of a god. He was considered strong-willed, a leader at heart.
Canaan, 75 years old, quarryman, became the new leader of the family.
In the year 733, Canaan looked for a child to adopt. Canaan found a monstrous looking boy named Mert left alone. Mert became part of the family from now on. A few days later, Canaan rescued someone from a fire and was admired for that. On the next full moon, Canaan was chased out of Hecatompylos by a rival. The travel did change him, making him stronger than before. The family settled in Cairo.
Canaan died in his bed, with all his friends by his side.
